About Us

Lissy Tresa, the founder of Karunya Counselling Pty Ltd, is a senior social worker with over 30 years of experience in various professional social work practice fields. She has extensive experience in counselling children, young people and families and her professional experience includes frontline and senior management, professional supervision, mentoring and project management.

Lissy holds the role of the inaugural Director (Volunteer) of Professional Standards Division and Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Person’s Department of Syro-Malabar Eparchy of St. Thomas the Apostle Melbourne Australia. Lissy’s leadership, strategic thinking and planning and passion for child safety have been instrumental for the development and efficient functioning of the department. She oversees the ongoing implementation and continuous improvement of National Catholic Child Safe Standards in the Syro-Malabar Eparchy.

Lissy’s extensive experience in the child and family sector in Australia and overseas, her breadth of vision, clear intellect and strong ethics, leadership skills and extensive knowledge in coordinating responses, is an advantage when providing counselling for individuals & families, professional supervision for caring professionals and child safeguarding projects management.

As an approved Victim Support Counsellor, Lissy delivers counselling services for eligible clients.

Lissy is also working as a Sessional Academic (Workplace Learning-Social Work) with Charles Sturt University and Director (National) of Professional Standards Division and Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Person’s Department of Syro-Malabar Eparchy.
